Engelstalige versie advies over AI en cultuur beschikbaar | English version of advisory report on AI and culture now available

De Raad voor Cultuur heeft een Engelstalige versie gepubliceerd van het advies 'Kunstzinnig boven kunstmatig. Naar een waardengedreven toepassing van AI in de culturele en creatieve sector.'
Het advies verscheen eerder dit jaar in het Nederlands en is nu beschikbaar als 'Artistic over artificial. Towards a value-driven approach to AI for the cultural and creative sector.' In het advies, waarover we in juni al berichtten, onderzoekt de Raad voor Cultuur wat de snelle ontwikkeling van artificiële intelligentie betekent voor de culturele en creatieve sector. De raad pleit ervoor de ontwikkeling en toepassing van AI niet alleen vanuit technologische en economische belangen te benaderen, maar nadrukkelijk ook vanuit publieke en culturele waarden.

De Engelstalige versie moet het advies toegankelijker maken voor het internationale debat over AI en cultuur. De gevolgen van generatieve AI voor makers, auteursrecht, culturele data en de positie van de culturele en creatieve sector beperken zich immers niet tot Nederland. Ook op Europees en internationaal niveau wordt volop gesproken over regelgeving en de voorwaarden waaronder AI wordt ontwikkeld en toegepast.
De Raad voor Cultuur roept organisaties daarom op de Engelstalige publicatie ook te delen met internationale collega’s en zusterorganisaties.
English version of advisory report on AI and culture now available
The Dutch Council for Culture has published an English-language version of its advisory report ‘Kunstzinnig boven kunstmatig. Naar een waardengedreven toepassing van AI in de culturele en creatieve sector.’ The report, which was published in Dutch earlier this year, is now available in English as ‘Artistic over artificial. Towards a value-driven approach to AI for the cultural and creative sector.’
In the report, which we previously covered in June, the Council for Culture examines what the rapid development of artificial intelligence means for the cultural and creative sector. The Council argues that the development and use of AI should not be approached solely from a technological and economic perspective, but should also explicitly take public and cultural values into account.
The English-language version aims to make the report more accessible to the international debate on AI and culture. After all, the impact of generative AI on creators, copyright, cultural data and the position of the cultural and creative sector is not limited to the Netherlands. Regulation and the conditions under which AI is developed and used are also being widely discussed at European and international level.
The Council for Culture therefore encourages organisations to share the English-language publication with international colleagues and partner organisations.
